The Land of Enchantment enchanted me the first time I crossed the Rio Grande at Otowi where the "Chili Line" railroad once stopped. I was a midwestern kid from Wisconsin. My father was interviewing for a position at the Los Alamos Medical Center. When dad’s interview concluded we turned onto Diamond Drive and there on the street corner stood a coyote in the midday sun. Wow, a real coyote, imagine that! Up to now I had only seen them as Wiley E. on Saturday morning Bugs Bunny's Looney Toons.
This was the Wild West of my boyhood dreams.
I was entranced, the cards were dealt, the deal done, my heart was spoken for. I became and still am a Desert Rat with a face that is now lined and burnt like tanned leather and squinty eyes. I am proud of it, it has seen many a sunset from a mesa top while taking in the sweet smell of sage brush or creosote bush. I continue to paint and photograph my southwest home from saguaro deserts to the Rocky Mountains. Allow me share my home with you, Mi Casa es Su Casa. Thank you!
